BONUS: Czech QIF vs. Luxembourg vs. Malta

“You do not need to establish a fund in Luxembourg to be taken seriously. For most Central European projects, a Czech QIF is faster, less expensive and easier for investors to understand.”

Key points

Three jurisdictions a fund founder would typically consider. A bird’s-eye comparison:

When a Czech QIF comes out ahead:

  • Assets and investors are primarily in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (real estate, local companies, energy).
  • Cost and speed matter more than global prestige.
  • You prefer a domestic regulator, Czech-language communication and proximity to your partners.

When to consider Luxembourg / Malta:

  • You are targeting large international / institutional investors for whom Luxembourg is the standard.
  • You need strong EU passporting for cross-border marketing and expect sufficient scale to absorb the higher costs.
